About OES

The Office of Extension Services (OES) is fundamentally a well thought out academic attempt to cascade its developed and tested technology for the utility of a focused community partner (FCP). It is a scholarly attempt made up of members of the faculty, administrators, and support personnel, together with the elected partners that passionately exhibit the same leadership foresights. The programs and projects shall dwell and thrive in a values-driven and educating-learning academic milieu.

An extension career in EVSU is believed to be more of a vocation that is primarily rolled out to organize, orchestrate and execute a purposive-collaborative activity utilizing an informed process of situational analysis, gaps identification and consensus building directed towards a particular end (extension agenda) that is designed and built on activities of socio-economic empowerment of the individuals, families and communities that are generally measured as economically challenged.

The principal mission of the office is the empowerment of the people in the partner-community. The EVSU extension community initializes in nurturing of a sustainable proactive environment where the faculty members and the support staff accomplish the desired extension outcomes, not because of their expertise or competence, empowerment, and accountability, but because they care and find genuine self-fulfillment in helping others.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Continually spearhead the implementation of the university’s extension agenda (UEA);
  2. Cutting-edge extension programs, projects, and activities in the fields of engineering, architecture, business and trade, agriculture and fisheries, and other fields of specialized discipline and expertise of the university;
  3. Strengthen the capability, efficiency, effectiveness, and equity among target clientele in sustainable technologies on agriculture, fisheries, trade and industry, science and technology, socio-economic development, natural resources management, and other rural development endeavors;
  4. Package and disseminate relevant technologies and information to target clientele;
  5. Establish and/or strengthen linkages with other governmental institutions, non-government organizations, people’s organization, and private individuals in promoting sustainable development programs;
  6. Comprehensive, functional, and accessible data systems for all RDE stakeholders;
  7. Strategic support to all forms of relevant research projects, academic instruction, administrative production initiatives, and development extension endeavors by bringing leadership, knowledge, and other resources, and;
  8. Strong and sustained linkages and institutional partnerships with parallel agencies (public & private), business communities, LGUs, NGAs, and other civil society organizations (foreign & local).

Extension Programs and Framework

The extension programs of the university will center on the Community Continuing Education Program, Community Partnership Program, Capability Building Program, Expanded Linkages and Network, and Information Dissemination. This will be realized through an extension framework dubbed as EVSU’s H-E-A-R-T (Human Empowerment, Advancement, Reform, and Transformation) which envisions to transform communities of E-A-R-T-H (Empowered, Advanced, Reformed, and transformed Humanity) after years of conducting sustainable and impactful extension Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) to adopted barangay which embraces the principle: One EVSU, One H-E-A-R-T, One Community and Beyond!

Each campus of EVSU shall focus but not limited to one community only for an impactful extension works. The following extension programs and projects will serve as extension arms in realizing the extension thrusts of Eastern Visayas State University:

  5. HRND-ASPIRE (Aims to train Sustainable food Producers Initiating Reform and Enhancement) Program
  6. COT-COTC (College of Technology – Convergence Outreach through Technology for the Community) Program
  7. COED- MAESTRAH (Makers of Educational Success in Techno Skills, Reading, Arithmetic and Health) Program
  8. C.O.B.E. – C.B.E.G.R. Program (College of Business and Entrepreneurship – Capacity Building for Economic Growth and Resiliency) Program
  9. CAAD-DISENIO (Designing Innovative Solutions through Extension Nestled on Inclusive Outreach) Program
  10. G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E. (Growth and Development for Underserved Areas in Tacloban and Eastern Visayas) Program
